I came across the following on a facebook group

"The opportunity to revive Ontario's greenbelt and foster sustainable farming
is being killed off by a clever con.Ontario grapes are going sour because cheap
imported wine is being passed off as local product by the Liquor Control Board
of Ontario (LCBO).Thanks in part to a little-known law cemented during
negotiations of the North American Free Trade Agreement, most Ontario wines on
offer in the province's government-controlled wine stores are not what they
seem. Carefully worded regulations allow for wine marketed in LCBO stores as
Canadian product to have 70% foreign wine, and only 30% Ontario juice.

This dishonesty is appalling. The lack of respect for Canada’s quality wine
industry is criminal. This is an extremely poor way to raise the profile of
Canadian wine. Serving low-end off shore plonk labeled as “Cellared in Canada”
is fraudulent and misleading.

This is something that definitely should be an election issue. Ontario Wines deserve fair marketing. People need to be educated into what they are really buying.

Municipalities pass bill supporting canadian goods

This is a major step forward for us in our movement to raise the awareness and support for Canadian goods. I hope the powers that be will take heed to this and follow suit. Either Obama needs to drop his unfair trading practices or we need to do the same as him at the Federal level.

Keep up the good work and continue to look for Canadian goods to meet your needs.

I came across two interesting things this morning on my commute in.
Firstly, I was pleasently surprised at the article in the morning Metro aboutbeauty brands made in Canada. I recommend you check them out and see what they have to offer. You will be surprised what you find

Secondly and even more surprising was a website I found listing Canadian products bycategory. Before buying please check this site out and see if there is a Canadian alternative.If there is and its of good quality then why not support our own. The american are.

Support the 'Made In Canada' Bill

I read something very positive in the newspaper this morning.It seems an NDP MP (Irene Mathyssen) is thinking like we are.The government spends a lot of money and what better way to buildour economy than use products made in canada when possible.

This story made me think of that story a few months back about that MPthat ordered Canadian flags to hand out in his riding but he found outthat they were not Canadian made and were actually of lower quality. Cheaper but cheaply made. He ended up sending them back and ordering hisown Made in Canada.

Initially, the excuses were that we are in a free trade agreement and cuttingcosts is good but with the United States doing the same, it cannot be a free trade issue. Everybody loves to save money but at what cost are we saving thosedollars? Pennywise, pound foolish.

Made In Canada

This blog is all about supporting Canadian Goods by buying products Made In Canada. We feel that the government needs to make it clear that the Made In Canada logo is important to Canadians. If you want to sell your product here you need to manufacture it here or use a high percentage of Canadian Materials.

It is up to you to add products to the list that are actually Made In Canada. Oddly enough, products like Toyota and Honda cars are manufactured here but people see them as foreign products but look at GM, less and less of them are being made in Canada. As they close plants they are actually becoming less of a Canadian Made product. Kind of ironic as we always think of Ford, Chrysler and GM as domestic. Hopefully this blog and the corresponding Facebook group will help us become more aware of Truly Canadian goods.

I look forward to your comments as to what products are Canadian and which ones seem Canadian but are made south of the border.
